Welcome!

My name is David, and I am going to be starting my watchmaking education next year in 2014 have started my watchmaking education.

I have a couple intentions for starting this blog.

  1. First and foremost is for my friends and family to stay up to date with my progress.
  2. Second, when I first started gathering information on watchmaking schools, I was having a difficult time actually finding out what being a student entailed. I could find a list of the curriculum that the schools used, but at the time, reading that the class was going to poise balance wheels, shellac jewels, pin a collet, etc while sounding interesting meant nothing to me. After spending a lot of time reading articles, books, looking at pictures and talking with former students, and some instructors, I have somewhat of a better idea of what it means to be a student. Being that I am planning on documenting my progress with pictures and explanations, I am hoping that this blog can serve as some kind of help for anyone who is thinking about getting into watchmaking and finds themselves in the same boat I was in.

Once school starts for me next year (sometime between May and September), I plan on updating my blog twice a week (on Tuesdays and Fridays) with articles that not only describe what I’m doing in school, but provide plenty of pictures as well. As I get further into my studies, I am planning on working on different projects in my own time-most likely servicing older timepieces.

  1. Hello dear..its a great work..would u pls tell me how much the cost to study in horology at ur school?where it is?

    • It really varies based on where you are living.

      If you are out-of-state, you are looking at one price, if you are in-state, but not in Paris it is another price, and if you are in Paris, it is a third price.

      The price, like most colleges goes up a little bit each year (I think), so your best bet is to contact the school and find out what their current tuition rate is.
